Behavioral Health Associate (BHA) will work with children and youth who, without services, would be at risk of placement disruption or would be unable to be safely placed or maintained in a community-based placement. The BHA provides activities which are focused on the acquisition, enhancement and application of developmental tasks. The skills training goals are for clients to increase their communication, relationship, and community skills, as well as to improve their pro-social behavior. provide client supervision, monitor behavioral compliance, monitor behavioral function, mentor and role model pro-social behaviors for clients, train clients in new skill development to grow in developmentally healthy ways, coordinate services with clinical staff, observe behavior and provide supportive and objective feedback, and complete all written documentation in accordance with licensing requirements.
The BHA will provide a safe, stable and predictable relationship. Developmental Skills Training activities are based on individual client needs with the primary activity skill objective of assuring that the children and youth increase the skills necessary to improve their pro-social trajectory in life.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Behavioral Associate:
1. Will complete documentation on all clients by the close of each week.
2. Their documentation must meet all licensing standards and clearly demonstrate a logical flow from the diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and client’s response and must logically flow from the Master Service/Treatment Plan.
3. Will begin and end all individual/group Developmental Skills Training on time except in cases of emergency client management problems.
4. Will maintain a flexible work week schedule of Monday through Friday which will include some evenings.
SKILLS TRAINING SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Individual and group skills building activities which are based on Developmental Stages and data that are tracked by PTCN. The primary objective of the activities is to assist youth in resolving developmental stages for the positive and to improve a youth’s prosocial trajectory in life.
2. Developmental Skills Training will fold in risk management factors and components of treatment that are identified with the client’s therapist and will follow PTCN’s established format.
3. Developmental Skills Training will occur in the office and in the community and as determined by the PTCN Clinical Team.
4. Collaborative work with Parents/Caregivers through coaching to enable Parents/Caregivers to employ skills training interventions to help resolve developmental impasses and the nurturance of developmental task acquisition.
CASE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Will inform the Therapist and the Lead Behavioral Health Associate of developments in the life of the client, the client’s family, and/or the Caregivers from a community placement.
2. May interface with the youth’s school concerning their emotional, social, risk, and supervision needs depending on the residential placement.
3. May conduct Developmental Skills Training in the school venue as needed to assist a youth in being successful in that environment depending on the residential placement.
4. Will coordinate Developmental Skills Training services and activities by presenting youth’s progress in weekly clinical staffing with the Clinical Team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Two (2) years’ experience in the care and rehabilitation of at-risk children and/or adolescents.
2. Must be able to be certified as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively; understand mental health assessment, treatment, and service terminology; and apply each of these concepts, implement skills development strategies, identify, implement, and coordinate the services and supports identified in a service plan.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
1. Position involves driving which requires valid driver’s license for the State of Oregon, personal auto liability insurance, and a safe driving record.
2. Behavioral Health Specialist is required to complete initial and annual training requirements.
