Position Title: Director of Thrift Operations
Department: Thrift Store
Classification : Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Chief Advancement Officer
Work Hours : This is a full-time leadership position requiring a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week. Due to the nature of retail operations, community events, donor relations, and seasonal business demands, the Director of Thrift Operations is expected to work additional hours as necessary to successfully lead the operation. Regular availability includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Position Summary
The Director of Thrift Operations serves as the visionary leader of Halifax Humane Society's Thrift Store, responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth, operational excellence, outstanding customer and donor experiences, and developing a high-performing team. The position bridges procurement, merchandising, retail operations, marketing, community engagement, and financial performance into one cohesive business operation that supports the organization's lifesaving mission.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead all retail and procurement operations.
- Develop and execute strategies to achieve and exceed monthly sales goals.\
- Build community partnerships that increase high-quality donations.
- Oversee merchandising, pricing, inventory flow, logistics and customer experience.
- Partner with Advancement and Marketing to execute promotions, campaigns and events.
- Analyze KPIs and implement continuous improvement plans.
- Recruit, coach and develop future leaders.
- Ensure operational excellence in safety, attendance, customer service and teamwork.
- Champion Halifax Humane Society's Strategic Plan and organizational values.
Success in the First Year
- Consistently achieve or exceed monthly sales goals.
- Grow the thrift operation toward a $1 million annual business.
- Increase donation volume and quality.
- Develop engaged, accountable team members and future leaders.
- Strengthen community visibility and donor relationships.
- Foster a culture where Better Together is reflected daily.
Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent leadership experience.
- 3–5 years of progressive leadership in retail, sales, operations, nonprofit or related business.
- Demonstrated success leading teams, driving revenue and improving operational performance.
- Strong financial acumen, merchandising knowledge and customer service leadership.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Incentive Compensation
In addition to competitive salary and benefits, this position participates in Halifax Humane Society's monthly performance incentive program. Monthly bonuses are earned when the team achieves established sales goals while meeting operational expectations including attendance, customer service, safety, teamwork and promoting our Better Together culture.
Physical & Employment Requirements
Ability to remain active throughout the workday, lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally, maintain a valid unrestricted Florida driver's license, pass background screening, pre-employment drug screening and provide professional references.
