About the Role
We're looking for an experienced permit drafter/technician to own the permitting side of our projects from initial drafting through final approval. You'll produce complete permit plan sets for custom residential pool and hardscape projects, submit them to city and county building departments across the Bay Area, and manage plan check comments through resubmittal until approval is secured.
Responsibilities
- Draft complete permit plan sets for residential swimming pool and hardscape projects, including site plans, construction details, and code-required documentation
- Apply knowledge of pool construction details across both standard and fully custom projects
- Coordinate plans with landscape elements that interact with the pool, such as decking, retaining walls, drainage, fencing, and outdoor structures
- Submit plans to building departments in cities and counties throughout the greater Bay Area (Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz counties and beyond)
- Track submittals, respond to plan check comments, revise drawings, and resubmit until approval
- Communicate clearly and proactively with our design team, project managers, and building department staff
Qualifications
- Proven experience drafting residential permit sets, ideally for swimming pools, hardscape, or similar site work
- Working knowledge of pool construction details, structural sections, and equipment layouts
- Familiarity with California residential code requirements affecting pools (pool safety barriers, setbacks, drainage, Title 24 where applicable)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or comparable drafting software
- Experience navigating Bay Area building department submittal processes (online portals and in-person) strongly preferred
- Strong communication skills and reliable follow-through
- Available during normal business hours, 8 AM to 5 PM PST
Schedule and Compensation
- Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM PST
