Overview

Duties
- Assist in the deployment, configuration, and management of network equipment including Cisco routers, switches, ASA firewalls, Meraki devices, and Juniper hardware.
- Support the setup and maintenance of LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), VPNs (Virtual Private Networks), and MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) connections to ensure secure and reliable data transmission.
- Monitor network performance using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, and Splunk; troubleshoot issues related to network protocols such as TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and EIGRP.
- Implement security measures including Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine), PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), and network security protocols to safeguard organizational data.
- Manage system administration tasks across operating systems like Windows Server, Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian), BSD variants, Solaris, and macOS; perform system design and high availability configurations.
- Support cloud security initiatives by working with AWS, Azure, VMware vSphere environments; assist in virtualization efforts and cloud-based infrastructure management.
- Conduct equipment troubleshooting for networking hardware and servers; support network installation projects including cabling, equipment setup, and configuration.
Experience
- Prior experience or strong familiarity with computer networking concepts such as routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), network architecture design, load balancing techniques, and network monitoring tools.
- Hands-on knowledge of firewall management including Cisco ASA configurations; experience with VPN configuration and management using IPsec or SSL VPNs.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash for automation tasks; experience with DevOps practices using Ansible or PowerShell is a plus.
- Understanding of data center environments with experience managing SAN storage solutions; familiarity with VMware vSphere or similar virtualization platforms is desirable.
- Exposure to network security assessments including vulnerability scans using tools like Splunk or SolarWinds; knowledge of compliance frameworks such as ITIL or SDLC is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills in equipment troubleshooting scenarios; ability to perform root cause analysis on complex technical issues related to network support or system failures.
- Educational background in computer science or related fields; certifications such as CCNA/CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Associate/Professional), CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect are preferred but not mandatory.
