Perform a variety of tasks necessary to maintain and improve the general condition and usability of the streets bridges alleys sidewalks easements and parking areas within the responsibility of the Tahlequah Street Department.
Classification: This is a safety sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. As a safety sensitive classification you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
Essential Job Functions: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs rough carpentry work for use in concrete forms.
- Operates snow and ice removal.
- Brush and debris removal equipment.
- Operate equipment as necessary including tractors w/mowers; street sweepers; trucks and front-end loaders. Perform routine daily preventative maintenance on equipment at the job site.
- Operate small motorized equipment and hand tools as needed.
- Be on call 24/7 if needed.
- Self motivated to be able to work individually and cooperative enough to function as part of a team.
- Willingness to do manual labor outside and in all types of weather.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- One year of experience in equipment operation or equivalent vo-tech training.
Certificates; Licenses; Registrations
- Must possess a valid Oklahoma Class "D" Driver's License.
- Must have a Commercial “Class B” Drivers license and maintain it throughout your employment.
Other Qualifications
- Must successfully complete required drug testing and physical examination per City of Tahlequah's policies.
- Have and maintain a driving record sufficient to satisfy the insurance mandates placed upon the city.
- Establish employment eligibility under USDOL and City of Tahlequah rules and policies.
- Climbing; balancing; stooping; reaching; walking; pushing; pulling; lifting; grasping; talking and hearing are all demanded in the job.
- The job is considered "Medium Work" but can be heavy at times.
- Level Three Visual Acuity and/or level required for Oklahoma Class "A" CDL; whichever is more stringent.
