Description: Carroll College invites applications for a part-time Equine Center Technician to support the Anthrozoology Program's equine facilities, horses, and student learning experiences.
The primary responsibility of this position is the management and maintenance of the College's equine facilities, including indoor and outdoor arenas, a four-stall barn with feed and tack rooms, holding pens, fencing, pastures, parking areas, and hay storage facilities. The Equine Center Technician will provide daily feeding, care, and cleaning for up to ten horses in collaboration with students and instructors.
This position supports student learning by providing guidance to students enrolled in the Equine Facilities Management Core Practicum and supervising work-study students. The successful candidate will work closely with the Anthrozoology Department and Facilities Team to support equine programming and facility operations.
Additional responsibilities include preparing for and assisting with equine laboratory experiences in courses such as Connecting with Horses, Equine Science, and Modalities in Equine Assisted Services, as well as performing other duties that support the Anthrozoology Program.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or G.E.D., plus 3 years of equine management skills including safe handling procedures for horses and knowledge of horse behavior and recognition of injury or need for veterinary care.
