We are seeking a passionate and dynamic English and Social Studies Teacher to inspire and educate high school students in both language arts and social sciences. Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating AP style, Chicago Manual of Style guidelines, and educational technology tools.
- Deliver engaging instruction in English language arts, social sciences, and related subjects such as history, geography, and civics, adapting teaching methods to diverse learning styles.
- Develop assessments for standardized testing, AP programs, and formative evaluations to monitor student progress effectively.
- Incorporate research skills, creative writing exercises, and literacy education strategies to enhance students’ analytical and communication abilities.
- Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management techniques while fostering an inclusive environment that supports special education needs when applicable.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design, instructional strategies, and student support initiatives to ensure cohesive educational experiences.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, behavioral concerns, and academic achievements through clear and professional channels.
- Implement IT-integrated lessons using the latest educational technology platforms to enhance engagement and learning outcomes.
- Mentor students in higher education preparation activities such as academic advising, research projects, or library services utilization.
- Stay current with educational compliance regulations, standardized testing requirements, and best practices in teaching social sciences and English language arts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English Literature, Social Sciences or related field; Master’s preferred.
- Proven experience teaching high school students in English language arts and social studies; middle school experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, assessment creation, and educational technology integration.
- Familiarity with AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, copy editing techniques, proofreading skills, and journalism principles.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt lessons for various learning styles while managing classrooms effectively.
- Experience working with diverse student populations including special education needs; familiarity with Montessori or other alternative pedagogies is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with colleagues and parent engagement; organizational skills for lesson planning and record keeping.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and instructional strategies for tutoring or test preparation programs.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in areas such as linguistics, literacy education, research methodologies, or higher education teaching practices.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
