Exact Staff is seeking for a reliable and motivated Denial Management Specialist to join a fast-paced Medical Family Practice in Bakersfield, CA. If you are looking for steady full-time work, weekly pay, and an opportunity to grow with a strong team, we want to hear from you.
This position is ideal for individuals with medical billing background, denied claims, communication between providers, and fast paced environments experience.
What You’ll Be Doing:
· Follow up on denied medical claims from commercial and contracted payers.
· Review physician documentation and coding for accuracy and compliance with Medicare and AMA coding guidelines.
· Assign and sequence ICD-10-CM and CPT diagnostic and procedural codes.
· Analyze medical records to ensure accurate ICD and CPT code selection.
· Investigate denied claims and coordinate with providers, insurance representatives, collection specialists, and charge posters to determine appropriate actions for claim resubmission.
· Verify and follow up on denied claims, including initial assessment of denials received through EDI systems.
· Identify and escalate coding trends that contribute to increased denial volumes.
· Perform retrospective audits of self-pay accounts and update demographic information as needed.
· Resolve routine coding issues and provide additional training to staff and providers when necessary.
· Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
· Participate in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) activities.
· Use Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management systems as required
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
· Minimum of 2 years of billing and accounts receivable experience in a physician practice, including experience in an FQHC environment.
· Minimum of 3 years of physician coding experience in a multi-specialty environment.
· CPC, CPCH, and/or CCS-P certification required.
· Must maintain annual coding certification requirements.

Pay, Schedule, and Location
- Pay Rate: $22/HR
- Schedule: Full-Time
- Shifts Available: Monday-Friday 8am-5PM
