Duties
- Assist veterinarians during medical examinations, surgeries, and critical care procedures, ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained.
- Perform medical collections such as blood draws, urine samples, and other laboratory tests to aid in accurate diagnoses.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, including dog handling and general animal restraint protocols.
- Manage kennel duties, including cleaning, feeding, and monitoring animals’ health status to promote optimal animal husbandry.
- Maintain accurate veterinary records using veterinary software and ensure compliance with DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) and USDA regulations.
- Support front desk operations by communicating effectively with clients, scheduling appointments, and providing excellent customer service.
- Assist with laboratory work, including sample processing and basic diagnostic testing to support veterinary critical care and companion animal medicine.
Requirements
- Proven experience in veterinary clinics or related animal care settings with knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures.
- Strong animal handling skills across various species, including dogs, cats, and equines, with the ability to perform animal catheterization when needed.
- Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record keeping and appointment management.
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques, aseptic procedures, and medical collection methods.
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients about pet care instructions and treatment plans.
- Experience in pet grooming or dog training is a plus but not required.
- Must adhere to all relevant regulations including DEA regulations for controlled substances and USDA guidelines for animal welfare.

Pay: $24.15 - $29.08 per hour
