REPORTS TO: House Manager
BASED AT: Bricelyn, MN
PURPOSE:
The Youth Counselor I interacts and supervises residents on a day to day basis with a focus on safety and adherence to program rules and expectations creating a positive and nurturing environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED
-
Experience working with children / adolescents desired
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Form therapeutic relationships with residents through day-to-day interactions
-
Promote a safe and positive environment
-
Maintain a clean and orderly environment
-
Observe and promptly respond to behavioral issues through approved crisis intervention techniques
-
Follow daily program schedule
-
Adhere to safety standards
-
Counsel individual residents
-
Facilitate group counseling
-
Assist in skills acquisition related to activities of daily living – independent living skills
-
Implement individualized treatment plans / interventions
-
Document residents’ daily behavior
-
Complete required reports
-
Attend all staff trainings and meeting
-
Communicate with supervisor and co-workers
-
Provide transportation
-
Assist with household shopping
-
Schedule appointments as directed
-
Complete / supervise allowance & picks
-
Conduct emergency drills as directed
-
Attend Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings as schedule allows
-
Display positive customer relations
-
Determine the need for facility maintenance and repair, and notify appropriate personnel
-
Supply basic first aid and emergency procedures if necessary
-
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Must be at least 21 years of age
-
Compliance with criminal background investigation protocol

Must have a valid driver’s license
-
Possess the ability to attend and successfully complete all MGA sponsored trainings
