Job Summary:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Serves youth through mentorship, support, and learning about problem solving, conflict resolution, and career planning. Center point of connection to resources and services youth may need for career goal attainment. Cultivates an environment of learning and growth through involvement of youth in meaningful activities and events.
Job Duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strives to serve youth of all backgrounds and barriers in the best, efficient, and effective manner possible.
- Guides youth and their circles of support through the application process to determine eligibility and ensure application content is complete, and Director approval is obtained prior to dispersing program funds and program services.
- Identifies available resources to enhance program services and advocates for youth by building strategic partnerships with internal and external agencies.
- Assists youth participants with developing a written plan to meet employment and/or training needs and to help guide them toward self-sufficiency.
- Utilizes Career Services Client Database and all applicable record management systems to enter and maintain youth program participant information, ensuring all electronic and hard copy information is accurate, complete, and current.
- Prepares written, electronic, and report-based communications, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to deadlines.
- Aids youth in the supportive service process ensuring needs are met promptly and internal guidelines and financial policies and procedures are followed.
- Maintains, tracks, inventories and reconciles Pay Cards received as custodian following all policies and procedures and ensure financial payments to participants are issued as required.
- Coordinates activities and workshops as needed including any training agreements with outside entities.
- Transports program participants as needed via a Cherokee Nation vehicle including tribal and GSA vehicles.
- Provides follow-up to services as needed to measure various prescribed outcomes.
- Serves as a representative of Cherokee Nation at various workshops, trainings, conferences, and meetings as well as attends specialized training focused on youth-specific topics.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Demonstrating reliability by completing tasks on time and maintaining a high standard of work.
- Handles basic issues and problems and refers to more complex issues with high-level staff.
- Assignments received with time management and objectives set.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or six (6) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least two (2) years of related experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
