Santa Anita Assisted Living is seeking an experienced Dining Services Director to lead our culinary and dining program in Arcadia, California.
If you have experience as a Dining Services Director, Dining Director, Dietary Director, Food Service Director, Culinary Director, Executive Chef, Dietary Manager, or Food Service Manager in senior living, assisted living, skilled nursing, healthcare, hospitality, or a related environment, we want to hear from you.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys creating great food, leading a team, managing kitchen operations, and providing an excellent dining experience for older adults.
Dining Services Director Responsibilities
The Dining Services Director oversees the day-to-day operation of the community's dining and culinary services, including:
- Lead and manage daily dining and food service operations
- Supervise, train, schedule, and support culinary and dining team members
- Plan and oversee menus and meal preparation
- Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, portioning, and service
- Monitor resident preferences and dining satisfaction
- Oversee food purchasing, inventory, receiving, storage, and cost controls
- Manage food and labor expenses within established budgets
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, sanitation, and food-handling standards
- Ensure compliance with applicable food service, sanitation, health, and senior living requirements
- Coordinate special meals, holiday menus, resident celebrations, and community events
- Work collaboratively with community leadership and other departments
- Respond professionally to resident and family feedback
- Maintain appropriate dining department records and documentation
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with:
- Previous dining, dietary, culinary, restaurant, hospitality, or food service management experience
- Leadership experience supervising a kitchen, culinary, dietary, or dining team
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, food handling, and kitchen operations
- Experience with menu planning, food purchasing, inventory, scheduling, and cost control
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to lead by example and work alongside the dining team
- Commitment to providing excellent service to seniors
- Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, employees, vendors, and community leadership
- Current food safety certification or ability to obtain required certification
Senior living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, healthcare, retirement community, or long-term care dining experience is strongly preferred.

Pay: $72,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
