Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CNC Operator specializing in Brake and Sheet Metal Work to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a variety of precision machinery to fabricate, cut, form, and assemble sheet metal components according to detailed technical drawings and specifications. Your expertise will ensure high-quality production while maintaining safety standards and efficient workflow. Responsibilities
- Operate CNC laser cutting machines, plasma cutters, CNC milling machines, lathes, and press brake equipment to produce precise sheet metal parts.
- Set up machining tools, adjust tooling, and program CNC machines using CAD/CAM software to meet project specifications.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to accurately produce components.
- Perform quality inspections using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools to ensure parts meet strict tolerances.
- Maintain safety standards by adhering to safety protocols during machine operation, material handling, and fabrication processes.
- Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with team members on forming processes using press brakes and forming machines for complex sheet metal assemblies.
- Utilize hand tools and fabrication equipment for finishing tasks such as welding, grinding, or assembly as needed.
- Operate cranes or forklifts safely for material movement within the shop environment.
- Document production data accurately and report any discrepancies or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC machinery including laser cutters, plasma cutters, CNC lathes, milling machines, or press brakes in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Proficiency with measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools for quality control purposes.
- Familiarity with shop math, basic math skills necessary for machining calculations, and understanding of safety standards in production environments.
- Ability to set up machining tools correctly and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes including forming, stamping, welding, and finishing techniques.
- Certification or experience with forklift operation and crane handling is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality work efficiently while adhering to safety protocols.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with a proactive attitude toward learning new skills or machinery upgrades.
