What You Should Know About the Medical Technologist:

Typical Hours: 6:30 a.m-3:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m.-11:00 p.m., or 10:30 p.m.- 7:00 a.m.

Job Summary:
The Medical Technologist accurately and promptly, performs a variety of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This role requires adherence to strict quality control procedures, a commitment to patient safety, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to deliver accurate and timely results.
Medical Technologist Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Bachelors or equivalent in Laboratory Sciences, including completion of one-year training in an approved school of medical technology and eligible for registration with ASCP required.

Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS by the ASCP) preferred.

Minimum Requirements:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols

Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly

Knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and medical terminology

Preferred Requirements:
-
One or more years’ experience working as a Medical Technologist in a hospital laboratory setting that includes the performance of high complexity testing.

Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records
