EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 80,000 people through 100 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated part time Porter/Kitchen Aide to work temporarily with our North Merrick Senior Community Service Center until November of 2026.

Primary Purpose of Job:
The Kitchen Aide is responsible for the preparation, serving of food, and maintenance of the kitchen & equipment.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Receive, check and store food and supplies.

Record food temperatures each day and ensure compliance with the Nassau County Office for the Aging regulations.

Heat food to mandated serving temperatures and maintain appropriate cold food temperatures.

Prepare and serve food per Nassau County Department of Health food safety regulations.

Adhere to all sanitary procedures and safety measures, including the wearing of hairnets, plastic gloves and aprons.

Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen and serving equipment.

Wash all serving equipment, trays, utensils, pots, pans, etc.

Sweep and mop kitchen and dining area floors daily

Wipe clean tables daily

Maintain the Senior Center in an attractive, clean condition. Clean kitchen, dining area, bathroom and other common spaces daily.

Removal of garbage on a daily basis.

Assists in maintaining inventory of cleaning and bathroom supplies.

Thoroughly clean all bathrooms, toilets, sinks, and mop the floors. Ensure there are ample supplies in all bathrooms, toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap, etc.

Vacuum and remove garbage from all offices.

Notify Center Manager of broken equipment or any issues on the property that require the attention of the building/landlord.

Perform all other relevant duties as assigned by Supervision and EAC Network Administration.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

High School Diploma or educational equivalent required.

Certification of Food Service Managers Training from Nassau County Department of Health, or able to pass test upon hire

Minimum of one-year prior food service experience required.

Ability to communicate with and understand the needs of the elderly.

Able to lift heavy kitchen pans & trays as required by the job.
