Mohs Clinic Staff (RN/LPN/MA/CDT)
Job Summary
The Mohs Clinic Staff position supports the Mohs surgeon and clinical team in providing high-quality care to patients undergoing Mohs micrographic surgery. This role involves assisting with medical appointments, surgical procedures, preparing patients and equipment, managing specimens, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and compassionate clinical environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical & Surgical Support
- Prepare patients for Mohs surgery, including room setup, patient positioning, and sterile field preparation
- Perform rooming, obtain vital signs, and document patient histories
- Assist the Mohs surgeon during procedures, including passing instruments, handling tissue, and maintaining sterile technique
- Apply wound dressings and provide post-operative wound care instructions to patients
- Monitor patients during and after procedures for comfort and safety
- Assist with medical dermatology appointments
- Assist with medical and cosmetic treatments such as injectables, laser procedures, and energy-based devices
- Set up, clean, stock, and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms
- Administer injections and topical treatments per provider direction and scope of practice
- Perform nursing procedures, such as blood draws, suture removal, and dressing changes, under the direction of provider supervision
- Take clinical photographs for documentation and consultations
- Other duties and tasks assigned by management.
Specimen & Lab Handling
- Properly label, transport, and document surgical specimens
- Assist with tissue mapping, processing, and coordination with the Mohs laboratory within your scope of practice
- Maintain accurate surgical logs and documentation
- Complete all required pathology and laboratory requisition documents and log all specimens in biopsy binder.
Administrative Duties
- Document accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Schedule medical and cosmetic appointments and coordinate follow-ups
- Assist with prior authorizations, referrals, and pathology tracking
- Process cosmetic consents and patient education materials
- Maintain inventory of medical and cosmetic supplies
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and safety protocols
Patient Care & Experience
- Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, procedures, aftercare instructions, medications, follow-up plans, and cosmetic products.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional, welcoming environment
- Answer patient questions in person and by phone with discretion and care
- Support patient flow to ensure efficient clinic operations
- Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming clinical environment

Education and Experience
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
- Requires a degree, license, or certification as a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Medical Assistant (MA), or Certified Dermatology Technician (CDT)
- Requires 1-2 years of clinical experience
- Clinical experience in medical dermatology or Mohs procedures preferred
- Experience with EMR systems required
- CPR certification preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Manual dexterity for clinical tasks and device handling
- Ability to lift and move equipment and assist patients as needed
- Occasional sitting, stooping and reaching
- Talking and listening in person and sometimes on telephone
- Requires occasional handling of average weight objects up to 25 pounds
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
