Job Description:
Bellarmine University Athletics is searching for an Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Will report to the Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Wellness/Head Athletic Trainer. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will be responsible for:
- On-site care of Student-Athlete injuries/illnesses, including prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries

Coordinate and implement prevention programs and strategies in conjunction with the Strength and Conditioning staff

Electronic documentation of all patient encounters through injury tracking EMR

Communicate with Team Physicians, other allied health professions, and coaching staff regarding injury status and treatment plan of Student-Athletes

Assist in the day-to-day operations of the athletic training room. Ensure that student-athletes use equipment and facilities properly, including adherence to Athletic Training Room time schedules and proper operating procedures

Provide daily medical care for assigned student-athletes per the Athletic Training Department standard operating procedures

Assist with filing and resolving issues concerning secondary insurance

Perform administrative and other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Wellness/Head Athletic Trainer

Work with Sports Medicine team to design and implement pre- and post-injury programs

Travel with athletic teams as assigned and directed

Critical thinking and independent decision making regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines

Organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.

Communicate effectively in high-stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, coaches, staff, and families.

Ability to lift 80 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications
- BOC Certification

Master's degree from a professional athletic training education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)

Eligible for KY Medical State License

Current Fist Aid and CPR/AED certification

Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Strong verbal and written communication skills
