We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Civil Site Estimator to join our growing commercial and industrial excavation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for earthwork, site development, underground utilities, demolition, grading, and related civil construction projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, construction knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to deliver successful bids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for excavation, grading, utilities, demolition, paving, erosion control, and site development work.
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Develop accurate labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor cost estimates.
- Analyze project risks, site conditions, and constructability issues.
- Prepare complete bid proposals and supporting documentation.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings as required.
- Coordinate with project managers and operations personnel during project handoff after award.
- Maintain current knowledge of material pricing, labor rates, equipment costs, and market trends.
- Assist in value engineering and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and bid records.
- Ensure estimates comply with company standards and client requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent industry experience).
- 3–7+ years of estimating experience in civil construction, excavation, or heavy highway/site development.
- Strong understanding of commercial and industrial site development.
- Experience estimating: Mass excavation, Earthwork, Site grading, Underground utilities (storm, sanitary, water), Demolition, Aggregate placement, Erosion and sediment control, Site concrete and paving (preferred)
- Ability to occasionally visit active construction sites.
- Ability to walk uneven terrain and work outdoors during site visits.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when necessary.
