We are a growing local heavy equipment company seeking an experienced Construction Cost Accountant. This role goes beyond traditional accounting by partnering with project managers and operations leaders to ensure projects remain financially healthy from start to finish.

Compensation:
Salary starting at $85,000 based on experience and qualifications.
What You’ll Do:
- Managing job costing and project accounting activities
- Tracking labor, materials, subcontractor, equipment, and overhead costs
- Preparing project profitability and cost analysis reports
- Maintaining Cost-to-Complete (CTC) forecasts
- Supporting project forecasting and gross margin analysis
- Preparing customer invoices, progress billings, AIA payment applications, and related billing documentation
- Monitoring accounts receivable and assisting with collections
- Processing vendor invoices and supporting month-end close activities
- Preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports
- Partnering with project managers and operations teams to improve financial outcomes
- Assisting with audits, reporting, and continuous process improvements
What We’re Looking For:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5-7+ years of accounting experience
- Experience with construction accounting, project accounting, or job costing
- Experience with customer billing, accounts receivable, and financial reporting
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction, heavy equipment, manufacturing, or project-based accounting experience
- Experience with AIA billing and payment applications
- Experience using ERP/accounting systems such as Sage 300 (Timberline), Viewpoint Vista, Foundation, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar
- CPA designation is a plus
