Position Summary:
The Medical Lab Tech Supervisor must have an MLT or MT certification from ASCP. The job consists of following COLA lab procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient results. The position also involves supervising staff and ensuring coverage for all shifts. We are a Physician Office Laboratory (POL), the job is approximately 30-35 hours per week working as a Med Tech with supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
ASCP Medical Laboratory Technician Certified with at least 5 years’ experience in the areas of Chemistry, Hematology and Immunoassay. Must possess in-depth knowledge of COLA regulations and requirements and have some supervisory experience in a clinical setting.
Essential Clinical Responsibilities
· Secures blood and urine samples for analysis and corresponding requisition slips
· Processes the samples according to the specimen processing procedure
· Maintain records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens
· Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies and documenting all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance
· Follow the laboratory’s policies whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance
· Be able to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or notify the appropriate supervisor
· Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications
· Reports blood results to physicians
· Follow HIPAA Guidelines
· Observes COLA regulations
· Adhere to Practice policies and procedures
· All other duties as requested by Supervisor or Physicians
Essential Supervisor Responsibilities
· Maintaining staff schedules and shift changes
· Taking the Lead on the bi-annual COLA inspection of the lab
· Working with the Lab Director to maintain all Lab documents and certifications
· Responsible for overseeing the entire function of the lab and ensuring the staff are following procedures
· Ensuring linearities are run quarterly and proper documentation is completed
· Responsible for stocking and order all reagents and other clinical essentials for the lab
· Responsible for training new hires

Education
ASCP Certified Medical Laboratory Technician
Or
10+ years’ experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Technologist
Experience
Physician Office Laboratory (POL) setting preferred, not required.
Experience in a supervisory position in a Clinical Laboratory preferred.
Familiarity with Beckman Coulter’s AU-480 analyzer and Siemen’s Immulite 2000 Analyzer a plus.
Experience with Labdaq LIS and eClinicalWorks also a plus.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.73 - $35.41 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
