Position Overview
CMC Logistics Atlanta is seeking experienced and dependable Class A CDL Drivers to operate hostler trucks within the Norfolk Southern Inman Intermodal Facility in Atlanta, GA.
This position involves moving container chassis and intermodal containers throughout the rail yard while maintaining safe and efficient operations. Drivers can expect to perform approximately 20-30 chassis and container moves per shift, depending on freight volume and customer demand.
Schedule
- 5-day work week
- Additional work available based on customer needs
- 8-12 hour shifts
- Typical work week ranges from 40-60 hours
- Multiple shifts available:
- 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
- Additional afternoon and night shifts available
- Weekend work available
Essential Duties
- Operate CDL hostler trucks within the Norfolk Southern Intermodal Facility.
- Move loaded and empty containers on chassis throughout the terminal.
- Position chassis and containers for loading, unloading, and train operations.
- Perform approximately 20-30 container/chassis moves daily based on freight volume.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Follow all Norfolk Southern, DOT, terminal, and company safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, terminal personnel, and operations management.
- Report equipment defects, damage, and safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain productivity while operating safely in a fast-paced intermodal environment.
QualificationsRequired
- Valid Class A CDL
- Ability to pass DOT drug screening and background check
- Strong backing and equipment positioning skills
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Reliable transportation to and from work
Preferred
- Intermodal, rail yard, hostler, yard jockey, spotter, container, or terminal experience
- Experience operating hostler trucks and handling container chassis
- Familiarity with Norfolk Southern intermodal operations
