Job Summary
This position is responsible for the maintenance of county vehicles and equipment.
Job Duties
- Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains vehicles, trucks, and equipment.
- Perform roadside service on vehicles and equipment.
- Refuels and maintains tractors for roadside mowing.
- Orders parts for repairs using online catalogs or by contacting an appropriate distributor.
- Completes written work orders showing parts and materials used for repairs.
- Installs snowplows and sand spreaders onto trucks; prepares trucks and equipment for winter weather events.
- Assists in storm cleanup as needed.
- Maintains a clean and tidy shop.
- Performs related duties.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least two years of related experience required.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of county and department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance principles.
- Knowledge of vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair principles.
- Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
- Skill in the use of a variety of tools and equipment used in the maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Skill in troubleshooting and identifying problems and in devising related solutions.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
