Conveniently located off HWY 580 in Livermore, we are seeking a motivated engineer to contribute to the development of innovative high power and/or high speed VCSEL products.
Job Summary:
Leads R&D team in design and development of new optoelectronic products. Responsible for design and simulation of new and improved GaAs and InP based optoelectronic devices with particular emphasis on high power devices.
Qualifications:
- PhD or MS in Physics or semiconductor Opto-electronic Device design or the equivalent in education and experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the optoelectronics field with a proven track record in III-V material design from development to manufacture.
- Proven knowledge of quantum mechanics, solid physics, optical waveguide, device performance simulation and semiconductor fabrication processes.
- Experience of GaAs and InP based lasers grown by MOCVD.
- Strong device characterization ability with CW and high-speed measurement skills.
- Expertise with design and simulation software packages such as Ansys, Harold, C2V, Comsol
- Working knowledge of manufacturing flow and new product development per ISO9001-2015.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and motivate an engineering team in Opto-electronic device design, simulation. Verify the design through material growth, wafer processing and analysis of III-V semiconductor lasers, and new opto-electronic devices and modules.
- Interface directly with sales group and engineers to define the design specifications, fabrication process, mask layout, process flow and test requirements.
- Theoretically simulation of epi structure to include the device performance and the reliability targets.
- Organize and join project review meetings with Fab, Packaging and Reliability groups
- Establish plans and schedules for execution and production release of new devices
- Prepare ISO Documents for new and updated designs
