Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including mental status examinations and diagnostic evaluations, utilizing your deep knowledge of physiology and medical terminology.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications in accordance with collaborative practice agreements and DEA regulations to optimize patient outcomes.
- Administer psychotherapy, including behavioral health interventions and psychopharmacology management, tailored to each patient's unique needs.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals across disciplines such as internal medicine, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and pediatrics to develop integrated treatment plans.
- Manage patient care through EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring accurate documentation of medical records, medication administration, and treatment progress.
- Provide telehealth services to expand access to mental health care while maintaining HIPAA compliance and high standards of client communication.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at advancing psychiatric practices or exploring innovative treatments like dermal fillers or esthetic laser therapy.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia care, or memory care is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, or Cerner; experience with medical imaging or laboratory experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, including psychotropic medications and CPT coding for billing purposes.
- Critical care experience or hospital medicine background preferred; ICU or Level I Trauma Center experience is advantageous.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques such as vital signs measurement, physical examinations, venipuncture, IV infusion/insertion, and sterile processing procedures.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients on treatment plans and medication management while adhering to HIPAA standards.

LEWS Psychiatry Mental Health & Family Services are looking for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP/APRN) who meets a fairly specific credentialing profile.
PMHNP certification — preferably ANCC-certified and currently active.
Active, unrestricted Florida APRN/RN license.
Fluent English and Spanish — both clinical speaking and patient communication.
Medicare enrolled with an active Medicare provider/billing ID.
Florida Medicaid enrolled with an active Medicaid provider ID. Florida AHCA confirms that enrolled providers receive a Florida Medicaid Provider ID.
PECOS account/enrollment and ability to bill Medicare. Medicare specifically identifies PECOS as the online system for NP enrollment applications.
Active CAQH profile, preferably fully attested and up to date.
Credentialed/participating with major commercial and Medicare Advantage plans
