Job Title: Engineering Technician
Job Description
The Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting both the main production line and engineering activities by building complete electro-mechanical machines from subassemblies, performing calibration and testing, and troubleshooting complex systems. This hands-on role serves as a bridge between production associates and engineers, working from schematics, diagrams, and detailed work instructions to assemble, validate, and improve prototype and production equipment. The work is moderately complex and requires sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to work with limited oversight while contributing directly to relieving production bottlenecks and keeping new products on track.
Responsibilities
-
Support the main assembly and production line by building complete machines and systems from subassemblies.
-
Follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures with limited oversight to complete assembly and test tasks.
-
Perform calibration, integration, burn-in, and testing activities on electro-mechanical systems and components.
-
Troubleshoot system-level and component-level issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
-
Act as a bridge between production associates and engineering, communicating issues, observations, and improvement ideas clearly.
-
Work from schematics, diagrams, layouts, written and verbal descriptions, and defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting.
-
Conduct engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data and support research and development work.
-
Perform operational tests and fault isolation on systems and equipment to ensure performance and reliability.
-
Assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions and improve system performance.
-
Assist in the design, construction, test, and checkout of specialized test equipment and fixtures.
-
Use manufacturing, test, development, and diagnostic equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus.
-
Collaborate with engineers to support prototype electro-mechanical systems and experimental circuitry.
-
Ramp up quickly to contribute as a "plug-and-play" technician, helping to relieve production bottlenecks and maintain throughput.
-
Maintain a safe and organized work area while adhering to all safety procedures related to electrical and mechanical equipment.
Essential Skills
-
Strong electro-mechanical assembly experience, including building complete machines and systems from subassemblies.
-
Ability to read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
-
Troubleshooting skills with minimal supervision, including system-level and component-level fault isolation.
-
Comfort running calibration, testing, burn-in, and integration activities on complex equipment.
-
Experience working from schematics, diagrams, layouts, and written or verbal instructions to perform test and checkout functions.
-
Proficiency using manufacturing, test, development, and diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus.
-
Approximately 6+ years of relevant technician or assembly experience preferred in electro-mechanical or related environments.
-
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively as an experienced, "plug-and-play" technician who can contribute quickly.
-
Strong hands-on skills in assembling, wiring, and mechanically fitting components and subassemblies.
-
Ability to work independently with limited oversight while exercising sound judgment and initiative.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
-
Degree is not required, making this role accessible to experienced technicians with strong hands-on backgrounds.
-
Component-level troubleshooting experience is helpful but not required.
-
Experience supporting production lines and resolving production bottlenecks is beneficial.
-
technical or new product introduction (NPI) environments is welcome if paired with strong assembly and troubleshooting experience.
-
Comfort working in a manufacturing and engineering lab setting with prototype equipment and new products.
-
Ability to communicate clearly with both production associates and engineers to support cross-functional collaboration.
Why Work Here?
You will work in a hands-on environment where you build, troubleshoot, and test real electro-mechanical machine components, directly influencing how new products move from concept to reality. The role offers meaningful ownership over production and prototype equipment, close collaboration with engineers, and the opportunity to use advanced test tools and methods. You will gain exposure to cutting-edge systems in a setting that values practical expertise, initiative, and the ability to ramp quickly, providing a strong platform for professional growth and ongoing skills development.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role in a manufacturing and engineering lab environment that involves frequent hands-on work with electrical systems, moving mechanical parts, and prototype equipment. You will work around manufacturing tools, test benches, and diagnostic instruments, with appropriate safety training provided for exposure to electrical hazards and production machinery. The position typically follows a first-shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the potential for extended 10-hour days and overtime as needed to support production demands. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with assistance may be required, and you will operate in a setting that emphasizes safety, precision, and consistent adherence to established procedures.
