Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing essential administrative support while ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and have experience in various medical settings, including outpatient and inpatient care.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist them with the check-in process, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately.
- Manage appointment scheduling and maintain an organized calendar for healthcare providers.
- Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting medical history and vital signs.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to document patient information and update records efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their treatment plans, medication administration, and follow-up appointments.
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure seamless patient flow and address any inquiries or concerns promptly.
- Maintain knowledge of ICD coding, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to assist in administrative tasks.
- Support emergency medicine protocols by being prepared for urgent situations and assisting with triage as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role is preferred.
- Familiarity with dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, internal medicine, geriatrics, and outpatient settings is advantageous.
- Proficiency in EHR systems and basic life support certification is required.
- Knowledge of vital signs measurement, medication administration procedures, and intake processes is essential.
- Experience working in a Level I or Level II trauma center or clinic environment is highly desirable.
- Understanding of medical-surgical practices, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room) procedures, and emergency medicine protocols is beneficial.
