Position Summary:
Coordinates Freight, verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items and equipment.
Responsibilities:
· Obtains freight quotes and schedules shipments as necessary.
· Generate freight invoices.
· Prepares and files all necessary shipping documents.
· Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
· Proper operation of equipment to safety and productivity requirements
· Unpacks, examines, and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
· Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
· Maintain dock areas and warehouses, in house and off site.
· Maintain maintenance records for the delivery truck.
· Provides guidance and assistance to trucks upon arrival to shipping and receiving dock, chock wheels, height, and weight variations, etc.
· Prep and package forklifts and material handling equipment for shipping.
· Pick up and deliver supplies as necessary.
· Perform receiving inspections.
· Maintain shipping and receiving calendars.
Requirements:
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to interact with various levels of internal and external customers & vendors.
· Ability to work in a team environment and a strong ability to multi-task.
· Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, with a focus on Excel.
