Your Mission:
Working under the guidance of the Anatomic Pathology Manager and Pathologists, you’ll be the go-to expert for managing send-out requests, maintaining critical pathology records, and ensuring full regulatory compliance.
What You Bring:

High school diploma or GED required

Administrative or clinical support experience in healthcare or pathology preferred

Strong attention to detail and communication skills
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and discretion

EPIC experience preferred

What We're Looking For:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / associate degree, preferred. Or completion of Medical Terminology Course.

Experience: 3 years of Clerical experience in the medical field, preferred. 3 years of Clerical experience in Pathology or Laboratory Medicine, preferred.

Additional skills required:
- Working knowledge of the computer keyboard and must be capable of being trained on the pathology computer system.

Proper telephone etiquette.

Proper filing of slides/blocks.

Confirm two patient identifiers on all materials received in and released from the lab.

Additional skills preferred:
- Beaker/Epic Experience.

ARCOS block system storage.
What You'll Do:
Day in the life:
-
Process and track pathology send-out requests (slides, blocks, records)
-
Communicate with physicians/requestors to collect or clarify information
-
Respond appropriately to legal requests, ensuring HIPAA, CLIA, and OSHA compliance

Maintain meticulous records per CAP and NHLS retention policies

Coordinate shipping via FedEx and other carriers

Provide timely updates and top-tier service to support Novant Health’s clinical teams
