Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Zinc Process Line Lead for the first shift to oversee and coordinate the daily operations of our zinc manufacturing process. In this role, you will lead a team of skilled technicians and operators, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency across all process activities. Your mechanical expertise, welding skills, and knowledge of fabrication will drive continuous improvement and uphold our commitment to excellence in metal production. Duties
- Supervise daily zinc processing operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and production schedules.
- Lead team members in performing setup, operation, and troubleshooting of equipment including press brake machines, plasma cutters, and welding stations.
- Oversee fabrication activities such as sheet metal work, ductwork assembly, and pipe threading according to blueprints and schematics.
- Ensure compliance with ASME codes & standards, AWS welding standards, and other relevant industry regulations.
- Conduct quality inspections utilizing calipers, micrometers, and shop math to verify dimensions and specifications.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for equipment repairs and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Review technical drawings, schematics, and fabrication shop blueprints for accurate interpretation during assembly or fabrication tasks.
- Manage rigging, crane operations, forklift handling, and other material movement activities safely and efficiently.
Skills
- Extensive construction site experience with a strong understanding of manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and welding techniques aligned with AWS standards.
- Skilled in blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and mechanical blueprints for fabrication projects.
- Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication, ductwork installation, pipe threading, plasma cutting, press brake operation, and gas metal arc welding.
- Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and shop math confidently for precise measurements.
- Mechanical knowledge of fabrication shop processes including assembly, machining, soldering, and mechanical fabrication practices.
- Familiarity with ASME codes & standards related to manufacturing processes.
- Strong understanding of rigging procedures, crane operation safety protocols, forklift handling, and schematics interpretation.
