- Assist veterinarians during surgeries, dental procedures, and diagnostic tests by setting up equipment, monitoring anesthesia, and providing critical support
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood draws (phlebotomy), urinalysis, and sample processing to aid in accurate diagnosis
- Administer medications, injections (IV insertion), and vaccines following veterinary protocols with precision and aseptic technique
- Operate diagnostic imaging equipment including X-ray machines and radiology diagnostics tools to produce high-quality images for assessment
- Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts, and document treatment plans accurately in compliance with clinic standards
- Support pet owners with pet care advice, grooming assistance, and education on animal husbandry practices to promote overall well-being
Skills
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology essential for effective communication within the team
- Hands-on experience with dental terminology, dental procedures, and general anesthesia management
- Skilled in animal restraint techniques for safe handling of dogs, cats, and other small animals during examinations or treatments
- Competent in laboratory procedures including phlebotomy (blood draws), sample collection, and laboratory equipment operation
- Ability to operate medical equipment safely while adhering to aseptic techniques to prevent infection or contamination
