Job Summary
Barefoot Land Co. is hiring an experienced Construction Site Superintendent (Owner’s Representative) to oversee daily field operations for a ground-up commercial self-storage project in Rockford, IL. This role is ideal for experienced superintendents located in Rockford or within reasonable commuting distance, including the greater Chicago or southern Wisconsin areas.
You will serve as the owner’s on-site representative, responsible for jobsite leadership, subcontractor coordination, safety, quality, and schedule performance from start to closeout.

Primary Responsibilities
- Provide daily on-site leadership as the owner’s representative
- Coordinate subcontractors, inspections, deliveries, and site logistics
- Enforce safety, quality, and schedule requirements
- Review and support weekly look-ahead schedules
- Identify and address issues early
- Maintain daily reports, photo documentation, and logs
- Assist with inspections, punch lists, and project closeout
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction experience, including 2+ years as a superintendent or site lead
- Experience with ground-up commercial construction (self-storage a plus)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong subcontractor coordination and site leadership skills
- Working knowledge of OSHA and jobsite safety practices
- Comfortable using email, mobile apps, and basic construction software
Compensation & Benefits
- $90,000 – $110,000 per year, depending on experience
