Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension, and electrical systems across various heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, alignment checks, shocks & struts replacement, and equipment inspections.
- Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to ensure proper fit and function.
- Ensure all repairs meet safety standards such as air brake inspections and vehicle system integrity checks.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, and document repairs accurately for accountability and future reference.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or diesel fleet mechanic with dealership experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and automotive electrical systems.
- Skilled in using schematics for troubleshooting vehicle systems effectively.
- Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics tools and power tools; welding skills are a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working on large machinery or vehicles.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as excavators or cranes is advantageous.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members and clients alike.
