Detail-oriented, self-motivated and experienced paralegal sought for high-paced support for solo practitioner in Portland, OR. Practice includes state and federal civil rights representing primarily incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people in Oregon.
Preference for Portland, OR based candidate, but remote also possible for right candidate.
Paralegal will work primarily remotely with attorney in critical support role for cases with regular trial practice. Paralegal will need experience preparing exhibits, pleadings and other trial materials and advanced knowledge of Adobe Pro. Candidate will regularly prepare and file pleadings in state and federal court, and be experienced with programs including Adobe, Dropbox, Word, and Excel. Candidate should be comfortable pivoting between tasks quickly.
Candidate prepares pleadings using templates and is skilled at editing. Some familiarity with local, state and federal rules for filings ideal, or willingness to learn. Regular billing required.
Candidate will keep daily track of incoming case information and organize time-sensitive documents requiring immediate action. A pristine and regularly checked calendar is essential to position. Comfort with detail-oriented work and litigation also essential. Preference for background in non-profit work and working with underrepresented communities.
Position requires frequent informational and intake calls with prisoners and their family members. Must be fluent in English.
Position available on contract basis, hourly pay between $35-$50 DOE, around 20-30 hours per week, more when preparing for trial. Flexibility for increased hours as needed appreciated.
Three years paralegal experience preferred with litigation experience.
