Safety Director
Near St. Louis, MO
LANTER DISTRIBUTING, a leading temperature controlled warehousing and TRANSPORTATION organization, is seeking a Safety Manager. This position will be located at our headquarters in Madison, IL (near Saint Louis, MO). This position will provide ongoing technical expertise; oversee, develop, and implement safety, quality and training programs and procedures in compliance with Federal and State transportation regulations and Company policies. This position is responsible for implementing and executing safety programs that effectively lead the company’s safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement best practice training programs for new driver safety orientation and road tests including conducting the training
· Facilitate completion of new hire paperwork and driver qualification files
· Coordinate Owner Operator truck paperwork, insurance and inspection
· Manage safety plans, drug and alcohol program; maintaining the plan documents and assuring compliance with regulations
· Maintain solid records for Drug & Alcohol tracking, accident/incident reporting and training records
· Submit insurance claims and follow-up and respond to inquiries and file required reporting
· Review accidents/incidents to determine cause of and preventability; identifying potential trends to be addressed in future training efforts as well as ensuring that retraining and safety points are assessed according to company policy
· Promote safe work practices and conditions
· Understand and apply FMCSA, OSHA, State, and Federal regulations as related to the position
· Develop, update, and manage workplace safety programs, procedures and policies
· Administer driver employee recognition programs
· Conduct on-site safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with occupational and environmental health and safety requirements
· Provide timely safety information and guidance to all company locations
· Conduct fleet audits and provide maintenance reporting and actionable recommendations for improvement
· Oversee the maintenance, repairs, and fleet activities
· Will perform regular site visits at all facilities to ensure program compliance
· Guide management in the development/review of applicable policies, procedures, and business practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree (or recognized equivalent) in Safety or related field
· 5 years experience in DOT safety
· 5 years of working knowledge with FMCSA/DOT and OSHA regulations
· 3 years of managing fleet and equipment
· OSHA 30 Certified (general) required
· ELD preferably SAMSARA required
· Willing to travel up to 20% of the time (Illinois, Missouri, Georgia, Texas)
Preferred Qualifications:
· CDL
· HACCP certification
· Food safety certifications (FSMA, SQF, BRC)

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
