About the Role
Scott Systems is a commercial HVAC company based in Pine Bluff, but expanding across Central Arkansas. We're looking for an honest and reliable technician to join our team. Most of our work is on rooftop units (RTUs) and package units. Your primary work will be servicing, maintaining, and repairing the equipment that keeps offices, retail spaces, restaurants, churches, and light industrial buildings comfortable.
Coming from residential? Don't count yourself out. If you can troubleshoot a split system, read a wiring diagram, and diagnose a refrigeration circuit, you already have the foundation. The equipment is bigger and it lives on a roof, but the fundamentals are the same ones you use every day. We'll train you on the commercial side: economizers, three-phase power, belt-drive blowers, and multi-stage systems.
What we can't train is work ethic and troubleshooting instinct, so that's what we're hiring for. We operate on four core values: trust, craftsmanship, dependability, and taking initative. Taking care of our team is how we build a company that lasts; We keep our work local so that you can be with your family at the end of the day and offer you a path for growth throughout your career.
What You'll Work On
- Package rooftop units (2–25 tons) gas/electric and heat pump
- Commercial split systems
- Exhaust fans, make-up air units, and ventilation equipment
- Thermostats and basic building controls
- Preventative maintenance under our maintenance agreement program
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems, primarily RTUs and package units
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control issues
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance; coil cleaning, belt and filter changes, electrical checks, refrigerant charge verification
- Repair or replace components: compressors, condenser and blower motors, contactors, capacitors, gas valves, and controls
- Respond to service calls in line with our maintenance agreements and safety standards
- Test system performance: airflow, temperatures, static pressure, and refrigerant levels
- Complete service reports and maintenance records
- Communicate clearly with customers about what you found, what you fixed, and what you recommend
- Flag opportunities for system upgrades and efficiency improvements
What You Need to Bring (Must-Haves)
- EPA 608 certification (Universal preferred, Type II minimum)
- HVAC field experience: residential or commercial
- Solid understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and controls
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics
- Experience with standard diagnostic tools (multimeter, gauges/probes, combustion analysis a plus)
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Comfort working on rooftops and using ladders
- Reliability, punctuality, and a customer-first attitude
