Duties
- Operate cash registers and POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately for retail sales transactions, including cash handling and balancing cash drawers at shift end
- Greet customers warmly, assist with product inquiries, and provide product demos when applicable to enhance customer engagement
- Manage fuel pump operations, ensuring safety protocols are followed during refueling processes
- Upsell additional products such as snacks, beverages, or car accessories to maximize sales opportunities
- Stock shelves, coolers, and merchandise displays to ensure products are well-organized and fully stocked
- Maintain cleanliness of the store area, fuel pumps, and surrounding premises to uphold safety standards and a welcoming environment
- Handle phone inquiries professionally using good phone etiquette; assist customers with questions or directions as needed
- Supervise or assist in training new team members in cashiering procedures and store operations when required
- Conduct merchandising activities including product demos and promotional displays to attract customer attention
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is preferred; familiarity with grocery store operations is a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse customers in bilingual settings if applicable
- Proficiency in cash register operations (POS systems), cash handling, basic math skills, and retail math for accurate transactions
- Experience with cashiering duties including balancing cash drawers and processing returns or exchanges
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge and merchandising principles to assist customers confidently
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service with friendly phone etiquette and proactive communication skills
- Supervising experience is advantageous for leadership opportunities within the team
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and work in a fast-paced environment
