We’re looking for a part-time Captain for our Miss Elise boat for Saturdays and Sundays . This candidate would work at our Anna Maria Island location!
Candidates must be upbeat, friendly, reliable, have extensive knowledge of local waterways and a love of the water and wildlife. Your main purpose is to operate the tour boats, interacting with passengers while ensuring their safety. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the organization’s success in serving the customers in a fun and exciting way.
A Day in Your Life Might Include
- The Captain sets the course and speed, directs First Mate and ensure that proper procedures are followed
- Inspect boat to ensure efficient and safe operation of boat and equipment, and conformance to regulations
- Monitor the loading and unloading of passengers
- Signal First Mate to open or close gates and ramps, and pull guard chains across entries
- Steer and operate boat using equipment such as radios, lights and buoys and local knowledge
- Arrange for boat to be fueled, restocked with supplies, and/or repaired
- Read gauges to verify sufficient levels of oil, hydraulic fluid
- Maintain logs and records of daily activities, safety drills, etc.
Skills You’ll Bring to The Table
- Must have a USCG Master Captain’s License - 50 ton or above
- Firm knowledge of marine craft communication, signaling and navigation systems
- CPR or related first aid certifications required
Must have ability to pass a pre-employment and ongoing drug test.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
