Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to provide high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting. This role is essential in assisting patients with rehabilitation and recovery through tailored physical therapy programs. We are looking for help in our Fall River, MA and New Bedford, MA locations.
Duties
- Assist physical therapists in implementing treatment plans for patients recovering from injuries or surgeries.
- Provide direct patient care, including performing therapeutic exercises and modalities.
- Monitor patient progress and report changes to the supervising physical therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on care plans, exercises, and home health strategies to promote recovery.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments and progress in compliance with medical terminology standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop effective discharge planning for patients transitioning to independent management.
- Support the physical therapy team in managing patient caseloads across various specialties, including orthopedics, neurology, and pain management.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assisting or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to physical therapy practices.
- Familiarity with discharge planning processes and care plan development.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to physical therapy practices.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction and education.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team to provide optimal patient outcomes.
