Caregiver Needed for Young Woman with Disabilities
Schedule:
Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays
- 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- (One or both shifts may be available.)
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable caregiver to support an outgoing young woman who lives independently with her cat, in her own apartment at Rebecca’s Homestead, a nonprofit farm providing supportive housing for adults with disabilities.
She is nonverbal but communicates very effectively using a communication device and writing, fluent spoken and written English is a must essential.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with all personal care needs, including dressing, toileting, bathing, and hygiene
- Feeding and mealtime assistance
- Safe transfers and mobility assistance
- Driving Amanda in her wheelchair-accessible minivan to appointments and community activities
- Supporting her participation in painting classes, outings, shopping, and other community events
- Encouraging independence while providing respectful, person-centered care
- Light housekeeping related to Amanda’s care
Individual enjoys being active in the community and has a wonderful sense of humor. She loves meeting people, painting, and getting out and about. We’re looking for someone who is patient, positive, reliable, and enjoys building meaningful relationships while helping someone live a full and independent life.
A valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate a wheelchair-accessible van are required. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required—we are happy to train the right person.
- Pay: $23.00per hour paid through Easter Seals and Public Partnerships
- Location: Rebecca’s Homestead, Wantage, NJ (or your town)
- Requirements: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation to work, background check and drug screen
