DPE Construction, Inc. is a heavy civil, general contractor that primarily operates within Yuma County. We are a family-owned company and have been in business since 1979. We have the capability to self-perform our own earthwork, hauling, paving, structural/civil concrete, and underground utility operations. Our sister company, DPE Materials, provides aggregates and asphalt for our own construction projects as well.
We are currently seeking applications for a highly motivated, experienced individual as an Underground Utility Foreman. This position is based in Yuma, Arizona and is for full-time employment.
The ideal candidate would have the following credentials to be considered:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience, with at least one (1) in a supervisory role, in the installation of underground utilities and infrastructure on heavy civil construction projects.
- Knowledge and understanding of how to properly operate and maintain the correct equipment necessary to complete the task at hand (i.e excavator, compactors, front-end loaders).
- Sufficient understanding of best trench safety practices and knowledge of soil type classifications specific to our region.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate daily activities of underground crew members including laborers, operators, and pipelayers.
- Ability to plan, layout, and oversee the installation of water, sewer, storm drain systems, manholes, and the like.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, survey data, specifications, ect.
- Accurately record into iPad and maintain daily reports, crew timesheets, equipment logs, and safety documents as needed.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures, conduct daily safety meetings, and proactively address any potential job site hazards (including utility conflicts).
- Lead by example and foster a positive and productive work environment that emphasizes safety, efficiency, and productivity.
- Effectively communicate and conduct themselves in a professional manner with other team members and those outside the organization.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically related to trench safety and confined spaces.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans, spec, and survey layouts.
- Knowledge of materials and techniques as they pertain to underground utility work.
- Proficient in using grade check tools, lasers, and levels.
- Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
