Title: Construction Inspector
Location: Buffalo or Rochester
Duration: 6 months contract to hire
Pay: $22 - $28
Overtime is 1.5x
Position Summary
A growing Geotechnical and Environmental Consulting firm is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Technician to support field inspection and testing activities at various construction sites. The ideal candidate will have experience performing field testing of construction materials and will work closely with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to document inspection and testing results. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction materials testing, geotechnical investigations, and environmental field services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field testing of construction materials, including soils, concrete, and steel.
- Communicate with Project Managers, contractors, and subcontractors regarding inspection, observation, and testing results.
- Collect and transport material samples for laboratory analysis.
- Prepare field documentation, data, and technical reports.
- Travel to various construction sites to perform inspections, observations, and testing.
- Maintain accurate records of field activities and testing results.
- Follow applicable industry standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in field construction inspection and testing preferred.
- Associate degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Nuclear Density Gauge Operator certification required.
- Prior experience with geotechnical and/or environmental field investigations highly preferred.
- ACI, AASHTO, or ICC certifications highly preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
- Ability to travel to multiple construction sites as required.
- Valid driver's license required.
