We are seeking a dependable and skilled Traffic Control Technician with a laborer or journeyman-level skill set. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in traffic control, construction, or a related field.
The primary day-to-day responsibility will be receiving traffic control plans and safely executing traffic control installations on active job sites. We are a non-union company that performs work on many private and municipal projects, including some projects subject to prevailing wage rates. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to read and follow traffic control plans, attention to safety, and the ability to properly document daily operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control devices at customer work sites.
- Direct and control traffic at construction sites to ensure safe passage for vehicles, pedestrians, workers, and equipment.
- Read and follow traffic control plans to complete safe and accurate installations.
- Install and maintain signage, cones, barricades, arrow boards, and other traffic control devices.
- Monitor work zones to ensure traffic control setups remain safe, effective, and compliant.
- Conduct regular inspections of traffic control equipment and report any damaged or unsafe items.
- Document daily work activities, site conditions, and any changes made to traffic control setups.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, crews, customers, inspectors, and the public when needed.
- Follow all company safety policies, construction site protocols, and applicable regulations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in traffic control, construction, labor, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to read and understand traffic control plans.
- Familiarity with construction site safety practices and work zone protocols.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- ATSSA certification or other traffic control certifications are a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, carry, and remain on-site for extended periods.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
