American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed ICU position in Rapid City, SD, requiring a minimum of 1.5–2 years of ICU experience, Epic proficiency, and TNCC certification.

Mixed ICU setting (MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU) divided into pods within a 39-bed unit
-
Complex ICU patient population including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases
-
Diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma with a heavy trauma volume
-
Cardiac experience preferred but not required; CABG/TAVR post-op experience (24–48 hrs) is a plus
-
Patient ratios are 1:1 or 1:2, with 1:3 occurring rarely based on acuity

Charting via Epic (required) with Alaris pumps (transitioning to Baxter) and Omnicell
-
12-hour night shifts, 48 hours per week
-
Every other weekend rotation
-
No on-call requirements

Floating to adult floors (including Med/Surg/Tele at a 1:4 ratio) is uncommon and only occurs when overstaffed
-
Active RN license — SD license or Compact RN license valid in South Dakota required

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (must be obtained prior to start if not already held)

Minimum 1.5–2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel experience

Epic EMR experience required
-
Proficiency with IV medications including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics
-
Experience with hemodynamic lines, ventilator management, proning, and telemetry monitoring
-
Impella, IABP, and CRRT experience strongly preferred
-
At least one prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered

Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
-
DOB and SSN required for consideration
-
Travelers must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility to be eligible
-
Former permanent staff must wait one year before returning in a travel capacity
-
Unit support includes 1–2 CNAs per unit, a mobility float aide, 2 charge RNs overseeing all ICUs, 24/7 respiratory therapy, a resource nurse (staffing dependent), phlebotomy for peripheral draws, and ICU charge RNs for midline placement
-
Physician coverage includes 3 intensivists on days and 2 intensivists plus an APP on nights
-
Orientation consists of a hospital orientation followed by one 12-hour shift and one 8-hour shift on the ICU
-
No RTO is approved during holidays or the Sturgis Bike Rally (first three weeks of August)
-
Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved, but the contract must be extended to accommodate the full 13-week duration

Required scrub color is navy
