The Low Voltage Technician assists with the installation, maintenance, and repair of structured cabling, telecommunications, security, audiovisual, and related low-voltage systems throughout Kinexion facilities. The position works under the guidance of the Senior Low Voltage Systems Technician and develops the technical skills necessary to perform increasingly independent work.
Monday - Friday 8a-4p
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with installation of low-voltage cabling for computer networks, telephones, security systems, audiovisual systems, HVAC controls, and cable television.
- Pull, label, terminate, and test low-voltage cable.
- Install cable supports, raceways, patch panels, racks, cameras, access control devices, and related hardware.
- Assist in installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of wiring and connectivity issues.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Document completed work and update labeling and records.
- Transport tools, equipment, and materials between work sites.
- Follow department standards and applicable safety procedures.
- Learn proper installation techniques and industry best practices from the Senior Technician.
- Provide courteous technical assistance to staff when appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Technical school or vocational training preferred.
- Experience with construction, electrical work, low-voltage wiring, or networking preferred but not required.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Valid New York State Driver License.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work on ladders, lifts, and in ceiling spaces.
- Must be able to work regularly on-site.
