Senior Litigation Paralegal
Reports to: Managing Attorney (Thomas Morrissey)
Status: Full-time, on-site — Springfield, MO
About the firm
Morrissey Law Firm is a small plaintiff-side personal injury and wrongful death practice in Springfield, Missouri. Our trial work is built on the Keenan Edge methodology, and the managing attorney serves on the faculty of the Keenan Trial Institute. We carry a focused caseload of serious matters, run on Neos and Microsoft 365, and care about doing the work well — with the documentation discipline and systems that let a small firm punch above its weight.
Position summary
This is a senior, high-trust seat. You will own the firm's heavy-active litigation matters end to end and serve as our primary liaison with retained experts, opposing counsel, court staff, and clients. It carries real ownership, direct access to the managing attorney, and top-of-market compensation. We are looking for someone who wants to run litigation files at a high level — not a cog in a large machine.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the litigation lifecycle on the firm's most active matters: pleadings, written discovery (propounding and responding), deposition preparation, and trial preparation using our Keenan-method trial systems.
- Help organize, facilitate, and run focus groups for case development and trial strategy.
- Serve as the primary expert liaison — engage and coordinate retained experts, manage their materials and deadlines, and keep their work moving toward trial.
- Own medical-records and billing retrieval at the matter level, including multi-provider request sets and bill verification.
- Drive lien identification and resolution coordination (e.g., VA, ERISA, Medicaid / managed-care subrogation).
- Maintain rigorous, current case documentation in Neos so that matter status and next steps are always transferable — documentation discipline is a core expectation of this role, not an afterthought.
- Prepare demands, exhibits, and pre-lit and settlement packages using the firm's checklists and methodology.
- Handle Missouri state-court e-filing, including redaction and confidential-records (CRIFS) practice.
- Mentor and help develop a junior, development-track legal assistant.
Required qualifications
- Substantial litigation paralegal experience, ideally plaintiff-side personal injury and/or wrongful death.
- Working command of Missouri state-court civil litigation and e-filing (CaseNet), including redaction / CRIFS practice.
- Fluency with legal case-management software and Microsoft 365 / SharePoint.
- Strong written communication; highly organized, self-directed, and reliable, with excellent follow-through.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with the Keenan / Keenan Edge methodology, or a genuine willingness to train in it.
- Direct experience managing retained experts and resolving liens.
- Deposition-preparation and trial-preparation experience.
- Experience with Neos specifically.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
