Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Behavior Technician and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and individuals with developmental disabilities. In this role, you will implement evidence-based behavioral interventions, primarily utilizing applied behavior analysis (ABA), to promote positive behaviors and skill development. You will work closely with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support progress in areas such as communication, social skills, daily living activities, and behavior management. Duties
- Implement individualized treatment plans based on ABA principles to teach new skills and reduce challenging behaviors
- Collect and record data meticulously during therapy sessions to monitor progress and inform treatment adjustments
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, dressing, eating, and toileting to foster independence
- Support the development of communication skills through teaching techniques tailored to each client’s needs
- Collaborate with supervisors, teachers, and caregivers to ensure consistency across environments and reinforce behavioral strategies
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, care plans, and behavioral health records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors and manage behavioral challenges effectively
Qualifications
- Prior experience or training in behavioral therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), or working with children with autism or developmental disabilities is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of behavior management strategies and behavior intervention plans
- Ability to collect detailed data accurately during therapy sessions
- Compassionate attitude with excellent patience for working with individuals who have diverse needs
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and HIPAA compliance standards
- Effective teaching skills for supporting skill acquisition and promoting independence in clients
- High school diploma or equivalent; ongoing education or certification in special education or related fields is a plus
