Maintenance Planner
Location: Exeter, PA
Job Type: Full-Time & Onsite
Salary: Approximately $80,000–$85,000, depending on experience
A well-established global manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner to support maintenance operations at its Exeter, Pennsylvania facility.
This position is responsible for planning, preparing, and scheduling maintenance work to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal impact on production. The Maintenance Planner will work closely with maintenance technicians, supervisors, production, procurement, and outside contractors to ensure work orders are properly scoped, resourced, and ready for execution.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong industrial maintenance planning, scheduling, SAP PM/EAM, and CMMS experience who enjoys bringing structure and organization to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and prepare preventive, predictive, corrective, and planned maintenance activities
- Develop detailed maintenance work orders within SAP PM or a comparable CMMS/EAM system
- Define task sequences, estimated labor hours, required skills, materials, spare parts, tools, permits, and safety requirements
- Maintain and continuously improve standardized job plans for recurring and critical maintenance activities
- Ensure parts and materials are identified, ordered, and staged before scheduled maintenance begins
- Create purchase orders for materials, services, and outside contractors as needed
- Maintain a pipeline of fully prepared “Ready to Schedule” work orders
- Develop daily, weekly, and mid-term maintenance schedules
- Coordinate internal maintenance employees and external contractor resources
- Align maintenance schedules with production requirements and equipment availability
- Group similar work orders to improve technician productivity and reduce equipment downtime
- Facilitate weekly scheduling meetings with maintenance and production leadership
- Coordinate critical and emergency maintenance activities when necessary
- Manage and prioritize the maintenance backlog
- Track schedule compliance, planned vs. unplanned work, labor utilization, emergency work, and planning accuracy
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve maintenance planning and scheduling processes
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5+ years of maintenance planning and/or scheduling experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of industrial maintenance processes and equipment
- Hands-on experience using SAP PM, SAP Plant Maintenance, EAM, CMMS, or similar maintenance-management software
- Experience developing work orders, job plans, preventive maintenance activities, and maintenance schedules
- Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-based maintenance practices
- Ability to estimate maintenance labor, resources, materials, and job duration
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to manage multiple work orders and changing production priorities simultaneously
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across maintenance, production, procurement, and contractor teams
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and continuous-improvement mindset
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred
- Equivalent technical education combined with significant industrial maintenance experience will also be considered
