Job Summary:
Neurocritical Care Nurse Practitioners will work in collaboration with and under the direction of neurosurgeons who possess expertise in neurovascular and neurosurgical care. Primarily within the hospital-based inpatient setting, caring for critically ill and injured patients in the ICUs and progressive units, providing leadership and support to the Neuroscience Program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Documentation: H/P’s, daily patient care notes
- Transfer and discharging patients
- Discussions with patients/families regarding upcoming procedures
- Preprocedural and postsurgical care of neurovascular and neurosurgical procedure.
- Interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies
- Assess and develop plans of care for acute, chronic, and complex patients
- Order appropriate testing, treatments, medications, and consults
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including Neurology, Oncology, Medicine, Trauma, Emergency, and Surgical Services
- Lead multidisciplinary rounds
Requirements:
- Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Board Certificationfor Nurse Practitioners. (Family boarded NPs will not be considered for this position; Physician Assistants are not being considered for this position)
- BLS/ACLS
- Unrestricted DEA license
- Bilingual applicants- English/Spanish fluent (Preferred)
Knowledge base:
- Neurovascular, neurophysiology, neurosurgical anatomy, and nursing care;
- Comprehensive knowledge of neurology, neurosurgery, neurovascular procedures and critical care treatments/interventions- cranial and spinal procedures;
- Neurological conditions and symptom management;
- Evaluating and monitoring patients’ neurological status, including performing neurologic examination
Procedural skills:
- Cranial and spinal drain management
- Arterial access and arterial line placement
- Central venous access to include central line placement
- Medication administration via CSF systems
These positions are open to new APP graduates preferably with neuro/neurosurgical experience/background.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $155,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
