Music
The Visiting Instructor of collaborative piano and vocal coaching will be expected to work positively with faculty, staff, students, and the community, and to provide accompaniment for voice and choral students in the School of Literary and Performing Arts. This role supports the continuous, year-round growth of the music and theatre programs by providing essential coaching and accompaniment for students, as well as managing the expanded logistical needs of summer programming. This Instructor will accompany all choral ensembles for class meetings, rehearsals, and concerts; provide individual vocal coaching sessions for up to 30 voice students; and serve as collaborative pianist for voice studio class sessions and other classes as assigned. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Teaching experience in a college setting;
- Extensive accompaniment experience across diverse ensemble sizes and repertoires;
Vocal coaching experience for applied music and music education undergraduate curriculum.

Preferred Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree in the field of instruction or 10+ years of professional collaborative piano experience;
- At least 2 years of full-time professional experience as a collaborative pianist in a university setting;
Professional experience within the music theater industry.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Academic Support: Teach assigned courses and provide piano accompaniment for choral ensembles, voice studios, conducting courses, and Recital Attendance;
- Vocal Coaching: Provide individual vocal coaching for up to 30 voice students in the applied music and music education curriculum;
- Year-Round Performance Support: Accompany choral ensembles for all rehearsals, class meetings, and concerts, including juries and student recitals throughout the academic year;
- Summer Program Leadership: Provide continuous administrative and musical leadership for summer program planning and logistical oversight to accommodate increased student engagement;
- Work positively with faculty, staff, students, and the community;
- Other: Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expertise in diverse repertoire across multiple languages;
- Ability to teach a variety of courses within our curriculum;
- Exemplary technical keyboard skills and fluency in sight-reading;
- Professional-level piano performance skills;
Ability to work independently and manage complex logistical schedules for performances and coaching sessions.
