The Yardman is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the yard area. This role involves handling materials, operating light machinery, loading and unloading goods, and supporting various site operations. The Yardman helps ensure efficient workflows and contributes to a safe working environment.
- Clean or prepare site to eliminate possible hazards.
- Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.
- Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
- Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
- Lubricate, clean, or repair machinery, equipment, or tools.
- Provide assistance to others.
- Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment or to heat or move materials.
- All other duties as required by business needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) safely.
- Basic knowledge of yard/worksite safety practices.
- Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid forklift operator certification.
- Previous experience in a construction environment.
- Basic mechanical skills.
- Familiarity with inventory control systems.

- Work is performed primarily outdoors and may require exposure to varying weather conditions.
